A key element of good portraiture is striking a balance between taking the time to frame your shot well, and not dithering so long that your subject becomes awkward, unnatural, or over-posed. This is something that new photographers can often struggle with as they get used to the camera, but Hala (12) is a pro in the making. She captured this wonderfully spontaneous moment of her friend and classmate Noha (11) grinning impishly in the local neighbourhood using the Canon powershot A495 during a take-home assignment.
